The Mountie and the Showgirl: A Day at the LA Times Travel Show

We’re back from the Los Angeles Times Travel and Adventure Show, and I think a great time was had by all. Exhibitors from all over the world were on hand to lure travelers to destinations both far-flung and right around the corner. Want to pan for gold? Play nude tennis? Become a human hamster in a wheel in New Zealand? The LA Times Travel and Adventure Show can help you live your dreams.

Along with the exhibitors, there were some great guests who had insight into how to save money on hotel rooms, how to find the perfect destination for your budget, and much more. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be highlighting tips, tricks, and destinations that were featured at the travel show right here, as well as on our first class blog, our deals blog, and our CEO’s blog–RickSeaney.com.

Please keep reading to check out a few of the photos Anne and I took this weekend at the show. I’m the one with the stupid grin on my face in most of the shots…

A quick note on the lovely lady in the showgirl costume. She is the assistant choreographer of an over-55 showgirl extravaganza. She, herself, is 50. She’s also really, really tall. Here’s a better look at her and some more of my favorite costumes from the show…

A real-life constable of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He was polite in the way that only a Canadian can be. Secretly, I think he was plotting my destruction:

The sun was a little too much for these representatives from the Korea booth, but they stuck it out for several shots while we tried to figure out what was “going on” with the camera:

    Your friendly, neighborhood nudist:

It seems the nudist has been outdone:

This man’s head was partially devoured by a lobster, but he was still there to tell us how great Maine is:

Thanks to everyone who granted us interviews, stopped to chat, and took pictures with us at the show. I had a great time, and I encourage anyone in the LA area or anyone who wants to travel to learn about travel to attend next year.
