easyJet Gets Caught Lying to Customers

Filed under: easyJet — mike @ 2:20 pm

There’s a great post on Gadling today about false advertising among low-cost airlines. Mainly, these fake adverts boil down to misleading prices. A European low-cost carrier might offer penny airline tickets, but once taxes and fees are included, you end up spending over $100 (U.S.).

Gadling is quick to point out that usually these types of advertisements go unpunished, but easyJet may have finally crossed the line…

easyJet recently told customers book by Friday and if you find a better price, we’ll pay you up to triple the difference.”

Of course, someone tried to get easyJet to pay when she found a cheaper flight, but easyJet wasn’t eager to pay.

Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority found the ad to be misleading, and easyJet has come around and has said they will pay the woman as the ad promised.

Beware cheap flights that aren’t as cheap as they might seem, and check out Gadling for more details on the story.
